Palazzo Melatino è il più importante esempio, ancora esistente, di edificio signorile medievale della città di Teramo. Nel 2005 iniziarono i lavori di ristrutturazione, consolidamento e restauro, che si conclusero nel 2010, quando il Palazzo venne restituito alla città e, tornato agli antichi fasti, si rivelò custode di inaspettate scoperte.
La facciata e l’interno del palazzo sono chiaramente di epoca medievale: le volte a crociera del pianoterra; le colonne resti di un antico portico; le finestre ad arco acuto, in alcuni casi rese bifore grazie a colonnine divisorie decorate; le pietre di fiume e il laterizio utilizzati per costruire l’edificio; l’articolarsi su tre piani.
Tra il 2005 e il 2010 durante i lavori sono stati rinvenuti e riportati alla luce due diversi strati di pavimentazione appartenenti ad un’antica domus romana, entrambe di raffinata fattura, musiva l’una e sectile l’altra, databili tra I secolo a.C. e il IV secolo d.C.
Così oggi è possibile affermare che Palazzo Melatino non è solo un edificio medievale, ma un Palazzo signorile di epoca medievale costruito sopra i resti e le fondamenta di un’antica domus romana.
Nei locali al piano terra, così come nel primo e secondo piano, sono esposti in maniera permanente antiche e moderne ceramiche di Castelli e oggetti in porcellana.

Palazzo Melatino is the most important example, still existing, of a medieval stately building in the city of Teramo. In 2005 the renovation, consolidation and restoration work began, which ended in 2010, when the Palace was returned to the city and, returned to its ancient splendor, proved to be the guardian of unexpected discoveries.
The facade and the interior of the building clearly date back to the Middle Ages: the cross vaults on the ground floor; the columns are the remains of an ancient portico; the pointed arch windows, in some cases made mullioned by decorated dividing columns; river stones and bricks used to construct the building; articulated on three floors.
Between 2005 and 2010 during the works, two different layers of flooring belonging to an ancient Roman domus were found and brought to light, both of refined workmanship, one mosaic and the other sectile, dating back to the 1st century BC. and the 4th century AD.
So today it is possible to say that Palazzo Melatino is not just a medieval building, but a noble palace of the medieval era built over the remains and foundations of an ancient Roman domus.
In the rooms on the ground floor, as well as on the first and second floors, ancient and modern Castelli ceramics and porcelain objects are permanently exhibited.

El Palacio Melatino es el ejemplo más importante, aún existente, de un edificio noble medieval en la ciudad de Teramo. En 2005 se iniciaron las obras de renovación, consolidación y restauración, que finalizaron en 2010, cuando el Palacio fue devuelto a la ciudad y, habiendo vuelto a su antiguo esplendor, demostró ser el guardián de descubrimientos inesperados.
La fachada y el interior del edificio son claramente de época medieval: las bóvedas de crucería en la planta baja; las columnas restos de un antiguo pórtico; las ventanas de arco apuntado, en algunos casos con parteluz gracias a columnas divisorias decoradas; las piedras de río y los ladrillos utilizados para construir el edificio; estando dividido en tres plantas.
Entre 2005 y 2010, durante las obras, se encontraron y sacaron a la luz dos capas diferentes de pavimento pertenecientes a una antigua domus romana, ambas de refinada elaboración, una mosaico y otra sectil, que datan de entre el siglo I a.C. y el siglo IV d.C.
Así, hoy es posible afirmar que el Palazzo Melatino no es sólo un edificio medieval, sino un palacio señorial de la época medieval construido sobre los restos y cimientos de una antigua domus romana.
En las salas de la planta baja, así como en el primer y segundo piso, se exponen permanentemente objetos de cerámica y porcelana Castelli antiguos y modernos.

“Descubre Téramo”
Palazzo Melatino ist das bedeutendste noch existierende Beispiel eines mittelalterlichen Adelsgebäudes in der Stadt Teramo. Im Jahr 2005 begannen die Renovierungs-, Konsolidierungs- und Restaurierungsarbeiten, die im Jahr 2010 mit der Rückgabe des Palastes an die Stadt abgeschlossen wurden. und nachdem es zu seinem alten Glanz zurückgekehrt war, entpuppte es sich als Hüter unerwarteter Entdeckungen.
Die Fassade und das Innere des Gebäudes sind eindeutig mittelalterlich: die Kreuzgewölbe im Erdgeschoss; die Säulenreste eines antiken Portikus; die Spitzbogenfenster, die in einigen Fällen dank verzierter Trennsäulen zu Doppelbogenfenstern wurden; die Flusssteine und Ziegel, die zum Bau des Gebäudes verwendet wurden; auf drei Ebenen strukturiert ist.
Bei Arbeiten zwischen 2005 und 2010 wurden zwei verschiedene Bodenschichten entdeckt und ans Licht gebracht, die zu einem antiken römischen Domus gehörten. Beide waren von raffinierter Verarbeitung, eine davon war ein Mosaik, die andere ein Sektil, und stammen aus der Zeit zwischen dem 1. Jahrhundert v. Chr. und dem 4. Jahrhundert n. Chr.
Heute kann man also davon ausgehen, dass es sich beim Palazzo Melatino nicht nur um ein mittelalterliches Gebäude handelt, sondern um ein mittelalterliches Herrenhaus, das auf den Überresten und Fundamenten einer antiken römischen Domus errichtet wurde.
In den Räumen im Erdgeschoss sowie im ersten und zweiten Stock werden antike und moderne Keramik- und Porzellanobjekte von Castelli dauerhaft ausgestellt.
