The Church of San Luca is located in the historic center of Teramo, in Largo Melatini, the connection point between Corso Cerulli and Porta Melatina. Built in 1380, as evidenced by the date engraved on the slab of the portal in front of the building, the Church retains, to this day, the original architectural stone structure.
On the external facade, the portal in stone ashlars and the flat architrave, supported by arched shelves, is surmounted by a slab that depicts, besides the date, a winged bull, symbol of San Luca, protector of painters; below it you can see a relief depicting a bird holding a branch with berries and leaves in its beak and a further date. On the right side there are two windows.
The interior of the Church consists of a single hall surrounded by exposed stone walls and covered by a trussed ceiling. At the entrance, on the right wall, there is a baroque-style holy water stoup resting on the rock of a smooth column. In the center of the multi-lobed basin there is a rose with two rows of petals.
An altar, dating back to 1700, in gilded wood with a nineteenth-century canvas in the center depicting San Luca intent on painting the apparition of the Madonna and Child, faces the entrance.
Finally, a painting depicting the same theme decorates the right longitudinal wall.
