Il versante teramano del Gran Sasso e dei Monti della Laga rappresenta una delle aree più affascinanti e incontaminate dell’Abruzzo, un autentico paradiso naturale che attrae per la sua bellezza e la sua ricchezza paesaggistica e biodiversità. In questa zona, il contrasto tra le vette più alte e le dolci colline, le fitte foreste e i prati d’alta quota crea scenari che variano notevolmente, offrendo esperienze diverse a ogni stagione.
Il massiccio del Gran Sasso, detto anche il “gigante che dorme”, è una delle mete più amate del centro Italia ed è caratterizzato da vette imponenti come il Corno Grande, il Corno Piccolo, Pizzo Intermesoli, il Monte Corvo, il Monte Camicia... Fra le principali località del turismo montano troviamo Prato Selva e Prati di Tivo. Partendo da quest'ultima, è possibile intraprendere numerose escursioni verso punti di particolare interesse: “La Madonnina”, raggiungibile anche in cabinovia, il rifugio Carlo Franchetti, dal quale è possibile godere di una vista stupenda su tutta la provincia e, per i più temerari, il Calderone, ghiacciaio situato in una gelida e riparata conca del Corno Grande. Altra area particolarmente nota e panoramica è Campo Imperatore, il più esteso e imponente altopiano dell'Appennino.
I Monti della Laga presentano un aspetto più dolce e sinuoso, ma non meno affascinante. Il loro paesaggio è dominato da boschi di querce, faggi e abeti, interrotti da numerosi corsi d’acqua, che danno vita a suggestive cascate molto frequentate dagli appassionati di trekking e della natura selvaggia. Sono l’habitat ideale per lunghe camminate e attività all’aria aperta, come la pesca, il birdwatching, il ciclismo... Meta di indimenticabili escursioni sono le famose Gole del Salinello, i Monti Gemelli, San Giacomo con le tipiche caciare e Monte Piselli con la sua stazione sciistica.
Da non dimenticare l'importanza del Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e dei Monti della Laga, terza riserva naturale protetta più grande d'Italia, che oggi ospita numerose specie vegetali, molte delle quali rare e endemiche, e animali come il camoscio d’Abruzzo, il lupo appenninico e l’orso bruno marsicano.
La vera essenza di questi luoghi risiede anche nella perfetta armonia tra natura e presenza umana, che si manifesta nei numerosi e incantevoli borghi medievali, nei castelli e nei paesi storici che punteggiano il territorio, testimoniando secoli di tradizioni, cultura e arte.

Destinations of unforgettable excursions are the famous Salinello Gorges, the Gemelli Mountains, San Giacomo with the typical caciare and Monte Piselli with its ski resort.
Not to be forgotten is the importance of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, the third largest protected nature reserve in Italy, which today is home to numerous plant species, many of which are rare and endemic, and animals such as the Abruzzo chamois, the Apennine wolf and the Marsican brown bear.
